Rhino Warrior

I've recently remembered that I really must get on with finishing this piece, it's been sitting idle for the best part of a year as a personal project, I think mainly because I've never really been that happy with the posing of the thing, or some such thing: actually, he's been kind of lurking about this place for quite a while on my front page, where I've used this strangely-distorted pic to link to my works in progress page:

- unless I'm much mistaken, Rogerick here on the left is sharing the stage with my now-completed Magnum Thunderer sculpt (right), and I think that's the Hulk in the middle there too amongst all the swirly purple weirdness.

...anyway, he's inspired by another character from the whole Wyrdworld theme of things, originally thunked up by Alan Simpson in something like 1989 or so - I'm guessing that's fairly -ish, since I'm going by the date on this drawing of the bloke I did in 1991, which would be a palindrome if it was a word instead of a number.

...but, you can't have everything, I guess.

Meanwhile, I suppose I ought to bung in a pic or three of the sculpt as it is thus far, adding that I'm gonna be changing it fairly radically I reckon, to actually kick-start meself into gettin' on with him again - like I said I'm first of all not keen on the pose, though I do still like it every now and then if I look at it in the right way - but really I wanna put a lot more dynamism into the overall sculpt, which is essentially gonna mean starting right back from scratch - though I was sort of planning to do that anyway because I've never been convinced that the head was big enough...

...which atually means that I won't need to physically scrap this piece, because I'm essentially going to be going right back to nothing as a place to start from: which I'm glad of, since I'm still just about fond enough of this one not to want to have to wreck it to bits. First thing I need to get on with I guess is getting started on a new head at the right size for the new body that's going to be getting done.

...so, here be some photicklegraphs...
