KITTIEPINK
- a prime example of one of my 'budget' sculpts: where necessary I can greatly reduce the costs involved in the production of a figure if the client is willing to let me use 'leftover' parts from figures I've made previously - with many of the figures I make, I tend to take moulds of the various bodyparts involved, whether that be arms, legs, heads, or torso - for this very eventuality: I would honestly rather try and please any given client with a positive response to their request for a sculpt, if it's possible to come to an agreement that meets with both of our requirements as much as possible within the constraints of the twin evils of money and time...
- anyway, this piece began as a 'Frankenstein'-ing of several other previous works: the cat head was from - well, a cat, obviously enough; the arms and hands are from I think three different figures of various female sculpts I've produced over time, and the torso was derived from yet another. I'm building a fur-skin over all of these parts to unify the whole, while also incorporating the character's fondness for corsets into the 'body' of the piece. As yet, I haven't found any really suitable legs, so I'll most likely sculpt them from scratch onto the rest of the work as it comes along. I also need to make a few adjustments to the head of the figure, as the character is a little more toonified than this, and I'll also be making provision later on for the client to add actual fur to the piece at various points on the model.

...things are coming along a bit, as you can see - the legs are all but done and I've started on the stocking-stuff: figured it was about time too to start thinking about sticking a tail on the donkey...so to speak...at any rate, you'll not make a manx out of this little moggy.

- getting fairly close to the end of it all now, and taking care of some of the last bits and pieces: I've tooned up the head somewhat, and started putting finishing fur-details into various nooks and crannies. Still got some stocking-tops and other ticklish bits to get done, but it won't be too much longer I reckon 'til I start thinking about some colour...

- first off the old grey basecoat then, followed by a splash of white fur and a bit of zinging shockin' pink, this is the initial stages of the paintjob - I need to 'weather' the pink a bit maybe, and of course finish the eyes and stuff, but you can see the girl is getting to where she's gonna be pretty soon. Nice to get a bit of ping on the page, too...
Right then, this'll be about the last of this little page - 'cause here's the finished feline; little bit of added shading in the pink, the eyes done in a sort of 'anime' style of things, and a bit of nothinginparticular added to spruce up the base a bit just for the sake of making it look like something other than just a bit of old wood. Shouldn't be long now before this catty critter is winging her way overseas... the pic is a bit weird-looking 'cause I did a very quick colouring-out of the background, strangely enough this shot turned out better than any of the properly set-up ones I cracked off, this being merely stood up amongst all the mess of my typical day's muckings-about. My camera's still not sure what to make of that shade of pink, mind you, it definitely struggles to make a good job of making it look right... eh well.
I should add, if I haven't mentioned it already, that the figure is still to be finished a little more by the addition of some equally pink fur/hair, which will be what Kittiepink herself will be getting up to once the sculpt arrives with her - if I can persuade her to send me some pix of the fully finished piece thereafter, then I'll add just that one last little update as and when.
