There's been considerable excitement in Chuza when an incoming ship at the town's harbour was accosted by troops of Duke Inkpot of Makena. The Duke was set to marry Twiki, daughter of Mayor Snavvedi of Chuza, until the girl was kidnapped. It now seems that the kidnapper was on board the ship with the girl in tow, apparently planning to try for a ransom or something similar: silly bugger should've cut and run; anyway, it now seems likely the culprit will get a seeing-to from both sides of the argument.

The tripartate series of monoliths present near the Bogey Hills have begun discharging huge amounts of magikal energy in the form of coruscating bands of red lightning running between each of the great stones. To approach even within fifty feet of the energy is to risk death as it seems the lightning tends to try and earth itself through anything that gets in its way - the end result generally being a hundred and fifty pounds of very well done steak. Those thus killed have been subsequently resurrected as dessicated undead trapped within the force lines, wandering aimlessly in the space between and generally reducing the value of property in the area. By the sounds of things there's something very rum indeed about to happen hereabouts.

There are definite signs that the infamous professional female who goes by the name Cairina Rathsax is in the province, as a number of bodies have begun to surface in the alleys and noble quarters of a dozen towns, all bearing the traditional hallmarks of the woman's work. So far the authorities are doing bugger all about any of them, mainly because of the sort of folk Ms Rathsax tends to hang around with - people like Maldred Plaguebringer, Viscount Antares and King Drofaels. That's heavy enough company to make anyone forget the odd death in the family and all related grievances.
